Solution

Pollination:

  1. Pollination is the passage of pollen grains from a flower's male reproductive component to its female reproductive part, the stigma.
  2. Pollen can be transferred by butterflies, honey bees, wind, and other means.
  3. Pollination is classified based on how pollen grains migrate from blossom to flower.
  4. Pollination is classified into two types. Self-Pollination and Cross-Pollination
  5. Pollen grains remain within the flower as it passes from another to stigma in self-pollination.
  6. Cross-pollination, on the other hand, requires the presence of a vector, and the grains are carried from one bloom to another.

Fertilization:

  1. The process through which the male gamete cell, sperm, combines with the female gamete cell, ovum, is fertilization.
  2. A zygote is formed when male and female gametes unite.
  3. An embryo is formed when a zygote divides.
  4. The embryo remains within the ovule, which grows into a seed with tissues, while the ovary develops into a fruit.

Differences between pollination and fertilization:

Characteristics

Pollination

Fertilization

Type of processIt is an outside procedure. It's an internal procedure.
Time of occurrenceIt takes place before fertilization. It occurs after pollination has occurred.
Basic fundamentWhen the anther of the stamen touches the stigma of the ovary, pollination occurs. Fertilization occurs when sperm and egg combine.
Physical or biologicalPollination is a bodily process.Fertilization is a biological process with a genetic foundation.
Need of agentSome pollinators or chemicals are responsible for this—for instance, wind, water, birds, and insects. There is no such agent required. Fertilization occurs when a pollen tube enters an ovule. This can be seen with plants.
