Greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide, methane, chlorofluorocarbons, nitrogen oxides, etc.) allow the passage of solar radiation but prevent heat radiation to escape.
When the concentration of greenhouse gases increases in the atmosphere, global warming results.
Sources of greenhouse gases:
Combustion of fossil fuels: Fossil fuels are widely used in transportation. The burning of fossil fuels releases greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides.
Deforestation: Deforestation has reduced carbon dioxide assimilation. Increased concentration of carbon dioxide has a major role in global warming.
