Basis of comparison Parliamentary Government Presidential Government
Meaning The legislature and executive are closely related. The legislature, executive, and judiciary act independently.
Executive Dual executive: President (Head of State) and prime minister (Head of government) Single executive: The president is the head of government and the State.
Ministers Must be the members of the legislature Need not be a member of the legislature
Accountability The executive is accountable to the legislature. The executive is not accountable to the legislature.
Dissolution of the lower house The prime minister can dissolve the lower house. The president cannot dissolve the lower house.
