Substances are made up of different kinds of atoms that are chemically combined in a fixed ratio.The materials which are containing different substances that are not chemically combined.
The individual atoms do not retain the property when they are combined.The components present retain the individual property when they are mixed.
Individual components can be separated by chemical methods.The individual components can be separated by physical methods.
It is homogenous in nature where the composition of components same throughout.It is heterogeneous in nature where composition of components is not the same throughout.
Example:H2O, NH3.Examples: Mixture of sugar and sand, a mixture of naphthalene and sand.
