    INDIAN CARP

    • Indian carp is also called as Indian major carp.

    • It is a common name for several species of fish and commonly may refer to the following species now raised in aquaculture in South Asia and other Asian countries where they have been introduced.

    • For example, Catla Catla is an Indian carp. It is an economically important South Asian freshwater fish of the carp family. Cirrhinus cirrhosus or mrigal, is an Indian carp, a ray-finned fish of the carp family native to rivers in India.


    EXOTIC CARPS

    • Exotic carps are those species that are non-indigenous having their origin in another country and has been introduced into the Indian waters.

    • They generally have established culture technologies and the economics of production and marketability.

    • Some of the exotic fishes found in India are 1. Carassius 2. Ctenopharyngodon idella
