List some measures we can take to overcome the problem of garbage.

Garbage:

  1. Waste materials produced from the household activities are called garbage.
  2. Garbage includes kitchen wastes, plastics, papers etc.
  3. We produce a very large amount of garbage through our day-to-day activities.
  4. If this garbage is not removed from our homes and surroundings, it will lead to multiple problems like health issues and environmental issues.

Measures to overcome the problems of garbage:

  1. Recycling:
    • Recycling means the collection and separation of used and discarded items made up of paper, plastics, glass and metals and sent them to the
    • respective industries for making fresh paper, plastics and metal objects.
  2. Landfill:
    • Some non-biodegradable and non-reusable waste material is taken into low-lying areas called landfills.
    • The non-useful garbage is spread out in the landfill and is covered with soil.
    • Once the landfill is completed the ground is converted into a playground or park.
  3. Composting:
    • Composting is a disposal method of kitchen waste.
    • Kitchen wastes are biodegradable and can convert to manure.
    • This manure can be used for growing plants.
    • The conversion of biodegradable wastes into manure is called composting.
