Solution

Characteristics of living organisms:

Life is defined as a complex and distinctive organization of molecules that express themselves through chemical processes and lead to growth, development, adaptability, and reproduction.

Cellular structure:

Since every living thing is comprised of one or more cells, the cellular makeup is regarded as the characteristic that distinguishes living things from non-living things.

Metabolism:

  1. Within the bodies of living things, there are several chemical processes going on.
  2. The metabolic rate is the totality of all these responses.
  3. The two forms of metabolism are catabolism and anabolism.
  4. Anabolism describes the process by which simple molecules or substances are transformed into more complex ones.
  5. Catabolism is the breakdown of complicated compounds into simpler ones.

Growth:

It is an irreversible process that results in an individual's mass growing.

Reproduction:

  1. Reproduction is the process through which new life is created from preexisting life.
  2. The maintenance of a population depends on reproduction. Asexual reproduction is also a possibility.

Consciousness:

Living things are capable of responding to stimuli and are conscious of their surroundings. Consciousness is the term used to describe this experience.

Organization:

The components and subcomponents present in a living being cooperate with each other for survival. This is known as the organization.

Energy:

Energy is required by organisms for survival.

Homeostasis:

  1. Living beings have the ability to maintain a stable internal state despite the various changes occurring in the external environment.
  2. Other traits of living things include variations, adaptation, healing and repair, motions, life span, and death.
