Open in App
Solution

The following different measures are adopted for preventing further introduction and spread of weeds for min missing weed population.
1) Use clean seed that is free from weed seeds for sowing purpose.
2) Use well decomposed compost and F.Y.M. During decomposition much heat is generated and most of the weed seeds lose their viability. Avoid adding mature weeds to manure pits.
3) Destroy the weeds before formation of flowers for avoiding seedling and further spread of weeds.
4) Remove weed growth: The cropped area, bunds irrigation channels, waste lands, public places etc. should be kept clean or free of weeds.
5) Do not permit the livestock to move from weed infested area to clean area.
6) Avoid feeding animals with fodder and other material containing weed seeds.
7) Farm implements and machinery should be properly cleaned before moving from weed infested area to clean area.
8) Avoid shifting of soil, gravel sand etc from weed infested area to clean area.
9) Keep threshing yard, compost and F.Y.M. Pits free from weeds.
10) Inspect seed, necessary stocks for the presence of weed seeds, tubers, rhizomes, weed seedlings etc.
