Question

List the situations and under what conditions the rate of absorption vary with rate of transpiration?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,
In situations like discontinuity of water column in xylem vessel due to bubble formation in water, no more water is available in the soil for absorption, if the cohesive force is reduced in xylem vessel, plant growing in moist soil and warm weather transpiration rate increases than the water absorption then in such situations rate of water absorption vary with the rate of transpiration. In all such situations loss of turgor occurs and the stomata closes which results in reduction of transpirational pull and photosynthesis also stops. Finally plants leaf wilts.
