The process of lossing of magnetic property of a magnets by applying any external force is known as demagnetisation.
Two causes of demagnetisation of magnet:
If a magnet is heated up at a very high temperature, it will loose its magnetic property.
If we use a hammer on a magnet again and again, it will demagnetise.
