Solution

The correct option is A True

Ionization energy

Ionization energy is the minimum energy that an electron in a gaseous atom or ion has to absorb to come out of the influence of the nucleus.

  1. Atomic number of Lithium(Li) = 3
  2. Atomic number of Sodium(Na) = 11
  3. In general, ionization energy increases across a period and decreases down a group.
  4. The size of sodium is larger compared to lithium.
  5. The attraction of valence electrons with the nucleus will be less in the case of sodium. So, removal of the first valence electron from sodium is comparatively easier than lithium.

Thus, Lithium has higher ionization energy than sodium and its true.
