Litmus paper is a strip of paper extracted from lichens, which is dipped into a solution to determine if it is an acid or base. Litmus papers are generally available in two colours, red and blue. Acidic solutions will change the color of the blue litmus to red strips. Basic solutions will change the color of the red litmus strips to blue strips.
