Step - 2 : Draw perpendicular AP of length 1cm at A. By pythagorus theorem, $O P = \sqrt{10}$ cm.

Step - 3 : Taking O as centre and OP as radius , draw an arc cutting number line at B.
Then $O B = \sqrt{10}$ cm.
