Leydig cells, also known as interstitial cells are present in the testis near seminiferous tubules. They are polyhedral epithelial cells with a distinct nucleus They secrete testosterone hormone which helps in the development of secondary sexual characteristics in males. Testosterone also stimulates spermatogenesis i.e. formation of sperms from germ cells. The secretion of testosterone is stimulated in presence of LH (Luteinizing hormone).
