Soil erosion:

  1. Soil erosion is a process by which there is the removal of fertile topsoil from land by strong winds.
  2. This process results in barren land, which is unfit for cultivation.

Prevention of soil erosion:

We should protect soil by preventing soil erosion.

  1. Afforestation: It is a large stage growing of forest trees.
  2. By planting trees and plants: Trees act as wind screens. and roots of plants hold the soil and prevent soil erosion.
  3. Construction of Dams: This will help in controlling the flow of water, which prevents soil erosion.
  4. Preventing overgrazing: Overgrazing by animals like sheep, goats, and cows can be prevented.
  5. Step-farming in hilly areas: This method will help in the control of water flow.
