Nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, boron, chlorine, iron, manganese, zinc, copper, molybdenum, and nickel are an essential element in plant nutrition. Plant require essential elements for a plant to complete its life cycle. Nitrogen act on older leaves when turn yellow, their nitrogen passes to younger parts in the form of amines and amides. Phosphorous is constituent of phospholipids (membrane lipids), nucleic acids, nucleotides, coenzymes, ATP, metabolic intermediates, sugar phosphates in photosynthesis etc. Potassium is for stomatal opening, translocation of sugar, protein synthesis, activation of enzymes and maintenance of cell turgor.
