(1) A green plant is carrying out photosynthesis.

  1. Work is said to be done when there is a displacement in the direction of applied force.
  2. If displacement and the force are perpendicular to each other then the work will be zero.
  3. If there is no displacement in the direction of applied force, the work is considered as zero.
  4. While carrying out photosynthesis, which is a chemical change, there is no displacement taking place.
  5. Since there is no displacement the work done is said to be zero.

No work is said to be done when plants carry out photosynthesis.
