Look at the figure of the rhombus and answer the following questions.



(1) Length of side AD = 4 cm. What are the lengths of sides AB, BC, CD?
(2) m∠AOD = ?
(3) If l (BO) = 2.5, then in l (BD) = ?
(4) If l(AO) = 2, then l (AC) = ?

Solution

(1) Lengths of all the sides of a rhombus are equal.
If length of AD = 4 cm, then
length of AB = 4 cm
length of BC = 4 cm
length of CD = 4 cm

(2) Diagonals of a rhombus intersect each other at right angles.
∴ m∠AOD = 90°

(3) Diagonals of a rhombus bisect each other.
∴ l (BD) = 2 × l (BO)
= 2 × 2.5 = 5 cm

(4) Diagonals of a rhombus bisect each other.
∴ l (AC) = 2 × l (AO)
= 2 × 2 = 4 cm
