Let's calculate the rate of change of function A


Let choose any two points on the graph, say (0,3) and (1,7)

Rate of change of function A = change in ychange in x

=7 31 0

=4

Equation of function B: y = 7x + 1

Let's calculate the rate of change of
Function B.

At x = 1, y = 7×1+1=8

At x = 2, y = 7×2+1=15

Rate of change of function B = change in ychange in x

=15 82 1

=7

Therefore, the rate of change is greater for function B.
