a) How much does $\frac{1}{2}$ kg of potato cost?
b) How much does $2 \frac{1}{4}$ kg of gourd cost?

a)Cost of 1 kg of potato = ₹10
Therefore, the cost of $\frac{1}{2}$ kg of potatoes = 10 ÷ 2 = ₹ 5

b)Cost of 1 kg of gourd = ₹8
Cost of 2 kg of gourd = ₹(2 x 8) = 16
Cost of $\frac{1}{4}$ kg of gourd = 8 ÷ 4= 2
Therefore, the cost of $2 \frac{1}{4}$ kg of gourd = 16 + 2 = ₹ 18
