Lymph nodes are the oval or bean-shaped structures which are located along the length of lymphatic vessels. They are covered by a capsule of dense connective tissue and are about 1- 25mm long. The stroma of lymph nodes consists of capsule trabeculae, reticular fibres and fibroblasts. The lymph gets filtered through the lymph nodes. They contain phagocytic WBCs and macrophages which eat harmful microorganisms, pathogens and foreign particles in the lymph. Lymph nodes are also main sites for B and T lymphocytes which form antibodies.
