Lysosomes are produced through vesicle budding that occurs on the trans face of the Golgi Apparatus. As the vesicle breaks off, another vesicle with lysosomal enzymes fuses with the vesicle that came from the Golgi Apparatus. Hydrogen ion pumps on the surface of the newly fused vesicle will cause the interior of the vesicle to acidify. Once that occurs a lysosome is formed.
