Question

"Magnetic force is always perpendiucular to the magnetic field where as electric force is collinear with the electric field ". How ?

Solution

Dear Student

For moving charged particle, electric force depends only on magnitude of charge and electric field
F = qE
Thus direction of force is same as that of electric field in case of positive charge.

Whereas magnetic force on moving charge depends on velocity as well as magnetic field

F = q (v xB)
So direction of force becomes perpendicular to magnetic field as well as velocity.
