Mattavilasa Prahasana was the play written by Mahendravarman. Mattavilasa Prahasana is a short one-act Sanskrit play. It is one of the two great one act plays written by Pallava King Mahendravarman in the beginning of the seventh century. Mahendravarman was a Pallava king who ruled the Southern portion of present day Andhra region. During Mahendravarman reign, the Chalukya king Pulakeshin II attacked the Pallava kingdom. Mahendravarma was succeeded to the throne by his more famous son Narasimhavarman I in 630 CE., who defeated Pulakeshin II of Chalukya dynasty.
