Comparison of the both houses of parliaments.
1. The Lok Sabha is directly elected by the people. The members of the Rajya Sabha are elected by the members of the state legislative assemblies.
2. There are 545 members in the Lok Sabha and 245 members in the Rajya Sabha.
3. Only the Lok Sabha can pass money bills and approve the budget of the central government. All other bill need to be passed with majority by both houses.
4. Only the Lok Sabha can introduce and pass a vote of no-confidence against the government.
5. The Lok Sabha is elected for a term of five years. The Rajya Sabha is a permanent body. A third of the members of the Rajya Sabha retire every two years.
