Stage 1: Egg

  1. The egg is laid by a female moth, which is of a very small size.
  2. A female moth lays around 350 eggs at a time.
  3. In the springtime, the eggs hatch because of the warm air.
  4. This process occurs every year.

Stage 2: Silkworm

When there is a crack in the egg, a hairy silkworm arises.

Stage 3: Cocoon

  1. In this stage, silkworms spin a protective cocoon.
  2. It is of very small size and is made up of a single thread of silk.

Stage 4: Pupa

  1. This stage is the motionless stage.
  2. The pupa is killed by putting the cocoon in hot boiling water.
  3. It will further lead to the unwinding of silk.
