Malaria is transmitted by the bite of a __________
Mosquito
Malaria is a disease caused by a protozoan parasite - Plasmodium. It is transmitted by the bite of an infected female Anopheles mosquito. When a female mosquito sucks blood from a person suffering from malaria, the parasite enters her body, multiplies in number and seeks shelter in the mosquito's salivary glands. This makes the female mosquito infected and when she bites a healthy individual, she passes on the parasite into the bloodstream of the person via her saliva.
