Solution
Suppose she has x notes of Rs 20. Then since she has 8 more notes of Rs 10 than of Rs 20, she has x+8 notes of Rs 10. x notes of Rs 20 are worth Rs 20x. (x+8) notes of Rs 10 are worth Rs 10(x+8) So total amount = 20x + 10(x+8) So 20x + 10(x+8)= Rs 860 (given) 20x+10x+80 = 860 30x +80 = 860 30x = 780 x = 26 So Manju has 26 notes of Rs 20 and 26+8 = 34 notes of Rs 10. Answer: 34 Rs 10 notes and 26 Rs 20 notes
