Manu plans to cut the 3 pieces of plate for the flower bed border from a single piece of plate. If 18 inch wood is wasted in every cut, calculate the shortest single piece of plate which can be used by Manu.

Given, the lengths of rectangular wood plates are 4,5,6
Total length=4+5+6=15 feet=180 inch

Given 18 inch wood is wasted in every cut, if Manu wishes to create the bed border from a single piece of plate.

To form a triangle, from a single piece, it has to be cut twice.

Hence, wastage wood=2×18=14 inch

Total length of plate required is 180+14=180.25 inch

From the given options, the shortest single piece of plate that can be used by Manu is 181. Option D
