Solution

Find the total investment

Let total capital of Manu be 100X.

Given: He invested 30% in petrol bonds and 70% in a life insurance plan.

He invest Rs.34000 more in life insurance plans than petrol bonds. Therefore,

70%of100x=30%of100x+3400070X=30X+3400070X-30X=3400040X=34000X=3400040X=850

Thus,

Total investment

=100×850=85000

Hence total investment is Rs. 85000.
