Fungi

  1. Fungi are simple, eukaryotic multicellular organisms.
  2. Fungi are mostly multicellular except for yeast which is a unicellular fungus.
  3. They lack chlorophyll and are heterotrophic in nature.
  4. Most of them are saprophytes as they feed on dead and decaying organic matter.
  5. Examples are- Penicillium, Aspergillus, etc.

Uses of fungi:

  1. Fungi is beneficial for the production of medicines such as Penicillin.
  2. Mushrooms, the fleshy and edible fruit, which are rich in proteins are used as a food source by humans worldwide.
