Given,
Length of Maria's hair before going to the salon i.e. initial hair length $=ainches$

Length of hair cut everytime $=1.5inches$

Length of Maria's hair after coming out of the salon i.e. final hair length $=binches$

Maria's remaining hair length = Initial hair length - Length of hair cut in the salon

$\therefore b=a-1.5$

Therefore, option (c.) is the correct answer.
