Marine fish when placed in tap water burst and die because of
endosmosis
Due to unequal osmotic concentrations, osmosis (endosmosis) occurs and because of this water gets into the fishes' body till the concentration (inside fish) becomes isotonic to that of tap water. Due to this, the fish start to swell, a stage comes when the fishes' body bursts and they die. Endosmosis and exosmosis are both types of osmosis, but endosmosis is the movement of water into a cell while exosmosis is the movement of water out of a cell.
