Let the cost price of the jug be $Rs.x$

Loss $=Rs.\frac{x}{7}$

SP of the jug $=$ CP $-$ Loss

$=Rs.(x-\frac{x}{7})=Rs.x(1-\frac{1}{7})=Rs.\frac{6x}{7}$

​SP of the jug $=Rs.168$ (given)

$\therefore \frac{6x}{7}=168$

$\Rightarrow x=168\times \frac{7}{6}$

$\Rightarrow x=28\times 7$

$\Rightarrow x=196$

$\therefore$ CP of the jug $=Rs.196$
