The formation of sperms also called spermatogenesis begins at puberty.

Sperms are produced by the diploid male germ cells called spermatogonia. They undergo mitotic divisions and increase in number. Some of the spermatogonia grow into large primary spermatocytes by obtaining nutrients from the nursing Sertoli cells.
