Solution

Because the starting salary is Rs 15000 and the incentive is Rs 100 per month, the salary will form an A.P.
Here,
First term, a = 15000
Common difference, d = 100
To find the salary after 20 months, we need to find the 20th term of the A.P.
We know that the nth term of an A.P. is tn = a + (n – 1)d.
By taking a = 15000, d = 100 and n = 20, we get:
t20 = 15000 + (20 – 1)100
t20 = 15000 + 19 × 100
t20 = 15000 + 1900
t20 = 16900
Thus, the salary after 20 months is Rs 16900.
