Mary is wrapping a can of paint to gift it to a friend. If the can is 11 inches high and has a diameter of 7 inches, how many square inches of wrapping paper will be used = ___

Given,
diameter (d) = 7 inches
So, radius (r) = 3.5 inches
height (h) = 11 inches
The total surface area is given by 2(
π)(r)(r+h)
Hence, total surface area = 2(3.14)(3.5)(3.5) + 2 × (3.14) × 3.5 × 11
Surface Area = (77 + 242 ) square inches
= 319 square inches of wrapping paper.
