Solution

Mass: Mass is the amount of matter contained in a body. Its SI unit is the kilogram (kg).

Weight: Weight of a body on the surface of the earth is the force with which the earth attracts a body. Its SI unit is Newton (N).

Step 1: Given:

Mass of the object m=10kg

The acceleration due to gravity on the surface of earth, g=9.8m/s2.

Step 2: Finding the weight:

Weight=mass×accelerationduetogravityW=m×g

Putting the value of m=10kg and g=9.8m/s2.

W=10kg×9.8m/s2W=98N.

Hence, the weight of the object is 98N.
