Question

Mass of an object is 10kg, the force of 10N is applied from left and the coefficient of friction is 0.3. Calculate the friction.

Open in App
Solution

We have, coefficient of static friction, µs = 0.3
Mass, m = 10 kg
Force applied, F = 10 N
Maximum static frictional force, fmax= µs × m × g = 0.3 × 10 × 9.8
=> fmax = 29.4 N
Since applied horizontal force is less than limiting friction, the friction is same as the horizontal force which is 10 N
hope it helps
