Elements short by 1 electron in octet are called halogens. Alkali metals are highly reactive because of one electron extra for the octet configuration. Alkaline earth metals have two electrons in their outer most shell. Noble elements having octet configuration and stability are non reactive. Group 3 to 12 are d block elements called transition elements. Actinides are radio active elements. As these are highly unstable they tend to change from one element form to the other hence radioactive elements.
