Solution

The correct option is B 1-D, 2-C, 3-B, 4-A
Human genome project (HGP) aims at finding out the sequence of the entire genome. It deals with the sequencing of all the nucleotides that form the human genes.

Findings of the HGP:

The total number of base pairs in the human genome was found out to be 3164.7 million bp.

The largest gene is the dystrophin gene which contains around 2.4 million base pairs. It is located on the X chromosome. Dystrophin protein is produced by the dystrophin gene.
DMD (Duchenne muscular dystrophy) is caused by recessive mutation in the dystrophin gene.

Chromosome 1 was found to have the maximum number of genes, that is 2968.

The Y chromosome has the least number of genes, 231.
