Let’s discuss the functions of various parts of the eye which are given in the question.
  • Cornea: It is the transparent front part of the eye through which light enters the eye. It acts as a structural barrier and protects the eye against infections.
  • Pupil: In the iris, there is a small opening called the pupil. The size of the pupil is controlled by the iris. Light passes into the eye through the pupil.
  • Lens: Behind the pupil of the eye, there is a lens which is thicker at the centre.
  • Retina: The lens focuses the light on the back of the eye on a layer called the retina. This is the place where the image is formed.
  • Vitreous humour: It is a clear, colourless fluid that fills the space between the lens and the retina of your eye. The vitreous performs a vital role in protecting your eye. Most importantly, it helps it to hold its ‘spherical’ shape. The pressure of the vitreous humour helps to keep the retina in place.
