Solution

The correct option is A A-4, B-3, C-2, D-1
Ascobolus is a genus of fungi in the Ascobolaceae family. The genus has a widespread distribution and contains an estimated 61 species, most of which are coprophilous.
While 12 genera (including Blumeria, Erysiphe and Golovinomyces) are ectoparasites that produce vegetative mycelium and conidiospores epiphytically on the host surface, four genera are endoparasites that produce internal mycelia.
Tilletia caries (synonymous with Tilletia tritici) is a basidiomycete that causes common bunt of wheat. The common names of this disease are stinking bunt of wheat and stinking smut of wheat. This pathogen infects wheat, rye, and various other grasses.
Fungi that not only grow on wood but permeate its fibrous structure and actually cause decay, are called lignicolous fungi. In nature, this process causes the breakdown of complex molecules and leads to the return of nutrients to the soil. Several polypore species are serious pathogens of plantation trees and are major causes of timber spoilage
Hence the correct answer is (C)
