Solution

The nth term of an AP with first term a and common difference d is given by
an=a+(n1)d.

In the AP 5, 8, 11, 14, ... a=5, d=85=3.
an=5+(n1)3=3n+2

In the AP 1, 3, 5, 7, ... a=1, d=31=2
an=1+(n1)2=2n1

In the AP 1, 4, 7, 10, ...a=1, d=41=3
an=1+(n1)3=3n2

In the AP 5, 4, 3, 2, ...a=5, d=45=1
an=5+(n1)(1)=6n
