The nth term of an AP with first term a and common difference d is given by
an=a+(n−1)d.
In the AP 5, 8, 11, 14, ... a=5, d=8−5=3.
∴an=5+(n−1)3=3n+2
In the AP 1, 3, 5, 7, ... a=1, d=3−1=2
∴an=1+(n−1)2=2n−1
In the AP 1, 4, 7, 10, ...a=1, d=4−1=3
∴an=1+(n−1)3=3n−2
In the AP 5, 4, 3, 2, ...a=5, d=4−5=−1
∴an=5+(n−1)(−1)=6−n
