Solution

The correct option is A A- 5, B- 1, C- 4, D- 2
Two molecules of pyruvic acid formed from one glucose molecule during glycolysis undergo the formation of Acetyl CoA, 2CO2 and 2NADH+2H+. Pyruvic acid or pyruvate is a 3C compound and Acetyl CoA is a 2C compound.
Pyruvicacid+CoA+NAD+Mg2+−−−−−−−−−−−−−PyruvatedehydrogenaseAcetylCoA+CO2+NADH+H+
Acetyl CoA enters a cyclic pathway called as Krebs cycle. It starts with condensation of Acetyl group with oxaloacetic acid (OAA) and water to yield citric acid which is a 6C compound.
Citric acid changes to cis-aconitic acid by the action of aconitase. The, cis-aconitic acid changes to isocitrate by the same enzyme. Then, isocitrate is changed into oxalosuccinate (5C) which is converted into α-ketoglutaric acid. It is a 5C compound.
α-ketoglutaric acid then converts into 4C compound succinyl CoA. Then, it converts into succinnic acid which later converts into furmaric acid. Malic acid is formed by the action of furmarase on furmaric acid. Malic acid is a 4C compound.
