The larynx is another name for the voice box. It's a tube about 2 inches long in adults. It sits above the windpipe in the neck and in front of the food pipe. The trachea, also called as the windpipe, is a cartilaginous tube that connects the pharynx and larynx to the lungs, allowing the passage of air, and so is present in almost all air-breathing animals with lungs.
