Question

Match the Column I(Salt solution in water) with Column II (Nature of hydrolysis)

Open in App
Solution

Salt of strong acid and strong base do not undergo hydrolysis like NaCl.
Salt of weak acid and strong base undergo anionic hydrolysis like CH3COONa hydrolyse with the anionic species (CH3COO).
Salt of weak acid and weak base undergo both cationic and anionic hydrolysis .Ex:In NH4CN the NH+4 cation and CN anion undergo hydrolysis by reacting with the OH and H+ ion of water.
Salt of weak base and strong acid undergoes only cationic hydrolysis like NH4Cl.
