Question

Match the compounds of Column I with oxidation state of Column II

Open in App
Solution

Cr gets the +3 charge from Cl in [Cr(H2O)6]Cl3.

In CrO5 chromium has an oxidation state of +6 because the two peroxide linkages.

For K3CrO8 Cr is bonded to 4 peroxo ligands. The formal charge on peroxo ligand is -2. So the oxidation state of Cr is +5.
