Solution

The correct option is A 1-iv-d, 2-iii-e, 3-ii-a, 4-v-b, 5-i-c
  • In albinism, body cannot produce melanin. Due to this skin becomes pale, hair are white and eyes are usually pink due to abscence of pigment in retina and sclera.
  • Sickle cell anaemia arises due to the replacement of glutamic acid with valine at the 6th position in the haemoglobin chain. RBC becomes sickle shaped which hinders blood circulation which causes oxygen deficiency.
  • Klinefelter syndrome is caused due the presence of one extra X chromosome in males. The sufferers of this disease has underdeveloped reproductive organs and are sterile.
  • Turner syndrome is caused due to the inheritance of only one X chromosome or due to inactivation of the gender-related part of X-chromosomes. The sufferers of this disease are females and they are sterile.
  • Down syndrome is caused by the presence of an extra chromosome number 21. Children suffering from this disorder are mentally retarded, have a short lifespan and have a single crease on their palm.
